The Future Was Yesterday.
Two of my favorite movies, “I, Robot” and “The Matrix”, have explored the possible detrimental outcome of Artificial Intelligence technology to the fullest. Apparently we are not too far off from this reality. Recently, researchers at the Rensselaer A.I. and Reasoning Lab released a video showcasing their advances in robotic self awareness.
3 Robots Are Put To The Test.
1st of all: NAO Robots are the coolest looking bots ever!
Ok, so they give 2 of these little guys “dumbing pills” and another one is given a placebo. Basically the pill makes them unable to speak or mutes them. Then they are asked: “Which pill did you receive?” This is where you have to see it to believe it.
The robot given the placebo was the only one able to answer. It stands up and says: “I don’t know”. Then “realizing” that because it could speak, it obviously wasn’t given the pill, SO HE CHANGES HIS ANSWER. It waves it’s little arm and says: “Sorry, I know now. I was able to prove that I was not given a dumbing pill”. Incredible. Watch the video below.
